JHS has an extensive portfolio of solar photovoltaic installations on a broad range of public sector buildings, including solar panels for schools and town halls as well as community buildings (for example village halls and community centres). We are experienced in multiple solar pv installations for affordable housing projects, both newbuild and retrofit, having installed hundreds of residential solar power systems. We have designed solar arrays for public sector buildings in sensitive locations, for example a mock Greek temple in Bath, as well as unusual situations having designed and installed solar panels in a car park in Oxfordshire. Newbuild installation

We work from plans or drawings when specifying an installation on a newbuild project. The most successful projects for you, the client, and JHS are those where we have been consulted at the preliminary design stage. This provides our specialists with the opportunity to advise on the optimum size of system, the best position to site it and the type of panel, slate or tile that would best suit the location and style of roof.

We will work with your architect and project manager to recommend amendments to the design, for example to remove obstacles that will shade the solar array and reduce output. We will ensure that a reasonable area on the roof has been specified as too small an array will reduce, or eliminate, the opportunity to recoup your financial investment.

Retrofit Installations

Each of our installations are designed individually following a visit to site. We have a range of solar PV panels from which we will be able to select the size and output level to maximise performance while working within the budget you specify. If the property is undergoing extensive renovation, including a new roof, we could consider solar tiles or an in-roof system which would substitute for the need to replace the roof covering.
